Tourists have been visiting it since the 19th century. Namely, the natural wellness, which emerged as a healing combination of sun heat and the benefits of swimming in the sea, made this island firstly famous for its winter recreation center, and later a favorite summer destination. All because Hvar is the sunniest island in the Mediterranean with an average of 2,726 hours of sunshine a year.

For almost half of the year, the sea temperature on Hvar is above 20°C, whereas the air temperature only in January and February goes below 10°C.

This one sunny island is also known as For and Hvor, Pharos being is its Greek name. However, the island had been inhabited even earlier, since prehistoric times.

Hvar among the ten most beautiful islands in the world

It may not seem so to you on first view, but Hvar is also the longest Croatian island that will enchant you with its diversity when you explore it either by land or sea.

No wonder Traveler magazine named it one of the ten most beautiful islands in the world in 1997.

The northern coast of the island is wooded, while the southern part of Hvar consists of cliffs that fall steeply and get lost in the blue sea. In the center of the island is Starogradsko polje, a protected cultural landscape and the 7th Croatian site on the UNESCO World Heritage List.

You will be attracted by the numerous vineyards that rise on the steep hills of the island. The wines made from these grapes, on the other hand, will enchant you with their sumptuous, aromatic flavors and aromas.

Hvar will delight you just as much if you want peace and swimming on hidden beaches, or you plan to spend your vacation actively exploring nature and the underwater world and historical sights.

We are not forgetting the gourmets who will find pleasure enjoying the famous delicacies of this region whether they choose luxury restaurants, traditional taverns or smaller restaurants like ours, located right on the beaches, offering true hedonism.
